Vintage Sterling Silver Modernist Tie Bar by Jose Luis Flores, Taxco, Mexico, 5.45 gr. 1.25"
Sterling Silver Modernist Tie Bar. Signed Sterling, Taxco, Mexico JLF which is Jose Luis Flores. This piece weighs 5.45 grams and is a about 1.25" - it is a staggered bypass setting of what looks like three over-sized watch pins. It was 1/3" tall. The tie back is definitely old school. It is stamped with his mark on the back of the pin-like pieces. Flores was an apprentice for William Spratling and following that worked for independently for Hector Aguilar, Miguel Martinez and Emma Melendez. He was noted for his quality design and craftsmanship. I've seen indications of work with Spratling in the 1940's. I obtained this info through a Google search. There is more out there about it. His pieces can command a higher price. This is in good condition with some wear and typical patina which will clean up, if given a silver polish. I do not polish old piece to look new given that many vintage buyers prefer the pieces as is. I'd call this good condition. It is likely mid-century to 1960s. I was fortunate to find this at a Pa estate auction. See Photos. (Lot Loc. Win.11.1916.G1.3).

I do not store fine jewelry and for questions on fine jewelry please allow some time for a response. I respond quickly but sometimes I cannot answer immediately and need a few hours until the answer can be provided.
I will combine shipping across all venues. If you pay shipping ahead, I will refund the overage.
Photos are magnified so things will appear larger than they are and they are likely in better condition than the photos depict due to the magnification.
I will make payment arrangements on high-end fine jewelry on receipt of a down payment and agreed upon payment plan.
Thank you for stopping by.
Please note that most of my photos are taken at 10X magnification. This shows any blemishes much more magnified than they really are.
I keep great notes about each item and can answer most questions quickly, but I do not store fine jewelry on premises, so answers about specific measurements may take some time as I arrange to inspect the piece again.
